Rose Trials

Courtesy of Joseph Rochfords Gardens Ltd

The International Rose Trials take place throughout the year. Producers and growers send new species and unique specimens of rose to the nursery to plant, nurture and mature. Roses are monitored and tested routinely over three seasons. At the end of the summer, roses are assessed and judged according to their marketability. Factors to the determine their success include scent, uniformity of stem and their appearance when their flowers ‘go over’. When the winter arrives, the roses are uprooted, discarded and burned. This cycle continues annually.
